    Not for me, it isn't. I don't even have a C:\$Windows.~WS\. I only have C:\$Windows~BT.

    Mine's in C:\$Windows.~BT\Sources\install.esd.
    And I have neither folder.

Malware control. IMO, if you are an above average windows user, you don't really need a real-time control of the Malwares. It takes additional memory from your system and slowing down you system's efficiency. Malware comes mostly when people visit the bad site or download unconfirmed programs. With free version of Malwarebytes, scan once a week should work.
Absolutely not true anymore. Malicious ads are being fed through on totally (previously) safe sites. You simply can't go without active protection using a Windows system anymore, no matter how "careful" you are.

That's why I said "MOSTLY". I rarely removed harmful ones that I can discovered by malware control weekly.

Not a good enough reason! If we have something on or off, Microsoft should not change our settings! It's as simple as that!
    Wynona, I totally agree.

What people seem to forget is that Microsoft are the sole owners of the software, not the users, it can only to be used at the discretion of M$ and their terms, ie- a paid for subscription, or in the case of W10 a free upgrade from a qualifying o/s.
So whether you like it or not, they can do what they like.

The C:\$Windows.~WS\ is a hidden folder.
:) One can Set Windows Explorer to display the Hidden and System folders; then Search for Install.esd finds it.

The one I have doesn't seem to have done me any good at this point. I've spent almost all afternoon trying to create a bootable USB stick, but no dice.

I've used Kari's ESD to ISO and then Rufus. When I try to create the USB stick, I get this message:

Announcing Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 10547 for PC-can-not-open-media.png

I've redone ESD to ISO twice; used at least 4 USB sticks; tried on my desktop and Lappy 17; but nothing seems to work.

I must be doing something wrong, but I don't have a clue as to what it is.

Edit: Although the screenie shows MBR, each time I've changed it to GPT and Fat 32. It keeps jumping out of it, but I keep putting it back.
