I will try the next build but if it has any problems I will go back again to the RTM and stay there. Thanks Cliff , at least I know I am not the only one having this issue.
Problem solved I have RTM and 10547 in a dual boot configuratiion on this NTFS hdd .

I'm going to keep using the test builds for the daily driver like I been doing for a good while now until they end or if one of them gets too buggy along the way I might temporarily use RTM until it gets fixed .

I have another desktop and HP Elite book on Win 10 RTM pro here so far they seem fine but they dont get abused like this one either

If you are having the same issue as I was then it is not solved if you continue to use build 10547 and restart it.

I have gone back to the RTM, this build has way too many bugs. When I restarted it, it would boot to a black screen then change to gray and back and forth till I manually shut down my PC. This happened way too many times and it is not good for my hard drive to continue to do this. I may go back when this new build comes out.

Re : Not me ,I wrote none of that ^^^^^^ I never have to re start my PC no BSOD and no black screening or other stuff like ^^^ here .
I only have to re open an occasionally unstable UI app or end a hung . exe application in task manager or login & out with the Windws + L key and log into my session again if I get a rarely occouring long freeze but no re starts are needed .
Aside from the above *occasionally only on 10537 Windows 10 never crashes here 24/7 on 3 PC's .

I've been on the test bulds since early on while some had thier problems NONE of them were *that buggy* like you say on my configuration.

......FWIW I have this test build 10547 and RTM x64 on this box in dual boot with nothing remotley like what you describe although 10547 *could be a little more stable* that's true but it ain't bad at all nothing that is a deal breaker *here* in that respect and a new build is coming next week anyway .

OTOH maybe a real power user would have windiows 10 running reasonably well by now

It sounds like if you try the next build and this behavior persists you might want to think about a clean install with all new drivers outside of your chipsets and hdd controlers or just or stay with RTM it seems to be fairly stable but ( a little bit ) slower and see what shakes out down then road .

FWIW Intel updated some CPU or chipset drivers recently for Win. 10. I dont know what the issue was .

I have an SB i7 ,3 Ghz Core duo and AMD Phen. II x4 9xx all on Win 10 RTM and also 10547 on this one (the daily driver ) on the same NTFS hdd and nothing like what you have going on .

OTOH I'm hoping the next *test build is a little more stable * thats all but it aint bad now here anyway on this box and I use it for the daily driver because it's got some significant improvemts under the hood not present in RTM yet ofc. YMMV ☻

I'm with you, Bluto . . . I just don't have the problems others do. Yes, I've had the occasional niggle, but as you say, no deal breakers. I've been using Windows 10 as my daily OS since October 2014 . . . wowwww, it's been almost a whole year.

I'm planning a clean install; probably tomorrow, hoping to cure the lag in boot time.

Time flies when we we are having fun but I dont miss the buggy early test builds it's one of those things if you never had them you dont know . ☻☻.

good luck you never know on these test builds

On the dual boot set up it cold bot fasrter but just using this test build sped up the boot times OTOH they aint nothing to write home about .

Next upgrade will be a 250 GB ssd for the two Windows 10 OS in this box and some frequwntly used apps and use the 1TB metal for storage .

OTOH we might have a new test buld *this week thats the rumor is :

I've had extremely fast boots except for Build 10547.

Of course, when I boot into the RTM partition, it's slower than molasses in January until I've booted into it a couple or three times in a row. On the other paw, when I go back to the Insider build, it boots slower than molasses in January until it's booted a few times.

Kinda the nature of the beast, I think.

Yeah, I have a 240 GB SSD that I'm seriously thinking about putting into mine, but that would end the dual boot days for me.

I may get brave and try it, but later, not now.

Add me to the list of happy customers. Been using win 10 on my main machine since Oct as well. Even with 5 comps on it I haven't see any instability.

I have done upgrades for five other people and their systems have no problems either.

But if I did have problems I would do a fresh install. My main comp has had a fresh install but not because it was unstable.

I've noticed on this dual boot config it does pretty much the same thing when you switch partitions it almost makes me think it has something to do with the boot loader or MBR partition maybe something being indexed ( monkey business ) after you boot a few times ?

I'm thinking of dual booting on the 240 GB SSD and using the metal 1 TB for storage or I could put the test build on the SSD and leave RTM on metal and migrate it over or clean install it again on the SSD when the test program ends not sure yet ?

Ofc you can dual boot with two different drives probably not with the Win 10 Insider boot loader though unless some one figured out a hack . I have a Linux Ubuntu drive I can do that with but its unpluged now. Win 10 might make me give up Ubunu I havent loaded it forever but it's good to have to fix a windows disaster Linux drive tools are excellent ☻☻
