I am not sure this is a good idea. I got Media Center to install with a key in the early days and it prevented any more updates. If you have to have media center go back to 7 or 8.1.

I run a dual boot of 10 with 7 since I wasn't simply going to abandon 7 any time soon! And I don't actually need WMC and never actually cared for it BUT want to find out how to get it on and working for others who will want it. So far no go after several attempts which include restarts. It might just be the system protection preventing it while no flags have been seen which leads back to this being a clean install not an upgrade install.

Adding Media Center to 8.1 requires a valid MC Product key. It also changes what product key your system activates with. The MC key becomes the key in use. If the installer is hooked into activation you could conceivably make your system illegally activated? I don't know this for a fact, just a heads up for those that tried it or installed. You may want to run showkey and see if you key has changed. I didn't even bother downloading it so I'm just guessing. Somebody in the know, may want to take a good look at what the installer is doing to your system. I don't have the skills required to do it or I would.

I have two separate systems and neither one seem to want it on! I think this will mostly work on the 32bit not 64bit which would explain a lot! The scripts were likely intended for the 32bit only. I'm still waiting for someone to work on the 64bit flavor of a network meter that had been developed for the 32bit Vista/7 to see if it would work on the 10 x64 as well.

WMC working great here on my home built system with Win 10 Pro. I just followed the instructions listed in this thread and it worked. I goofed the first time and forgot to unzip the files to a temp folder. It went through the motions but didn't install. But after unzipping the download and then redoing the instructions it's working great.

    Edit I have Win 10 Pro 64bit

Surprisingly there are some here that wanted to go back to the 32bit. Their choice of course! :)

I guess so! But as we both know that seems to come with the turf!

Unless you sign up to be able to read the other posts you have one person pointing to the Uninstaller.cmd file. That was tried here following the steps Antilope posted earlier to the letter and still NADA!

The default apps were restored since I only had a couple ot changes there and still rebooted each time. The additional command prompts windows open and the Uninstaller followed by the TestRights.cmd go through the motions but something apparently is still blocking something. Not even a new folder makes when taking a look in the Program Files and Program Files(x86) folders. :
