Same error here but although my windows version is listed as 3391 and the update shows up in the updates list, I'm not able to remove it! WU is completely blocked so it seems. let's wait for "tonight"! (in the EU)

[ADDED 8/16] The update addresses an issue that affects those who use Windows Update for Business. After you are asked to change your password at sign in, the change operation fails. Then you cannot sign in. The error code is 0xc000006d.

    Silly!
I have 3 machines updated; the problem is fixed.
What do you need a notarized letter? 🤣🤣🤣🤣
It was not even a problem, just a nuisance. 😎🤷

Looks like you have something different, the original error was 0x8007000d. 🤷

I was aware the error code is different, however the issue is exactly the same. Seaching for this error code, which doesn't tell me anything specific about the nature of it, just results in the same help instructions that I've already tried and didin't work, like sfc /scannow, DISM RestoreHealth, deleting SoftwareDistribution and catroot2 folders etc.

I won't ever bother this time, I can't waste time everytime Windows Update decides to break itself, which is quite often.

edit: I was wrong, it's indeed a different error. It downloads and then attempts to install the updates, but it fails giving me this error. I'm afraid it's a permission access issue, though I have no idea how it started, as I know better than mess with permissions on system folders. Guess it's yet another example of Windows bugging itself for no reason.
