Did you ever expect them to? If that's your standard, you would never have purchased any Windows version.

How about Caterpillar Tractor, Tupperware, Organization X, or the politician of your choice?

They say that love makes the world go around, but the last I heard, something else greases the wheels.

Simple solution is don't use any MS product. Use Linux...
That may be a suitable comment for Windows 10, everyone knew what they were getting Windows 10 'phoning home' habits were well advertised. However this is not true with Windows 7 basically after 5 years of a superbly stable operating system they are sneaking these things under the hood of 'updates' they are almost certainly more to Microsoft s benefit than the user.

Not sure if this is anything to do with the above problem but I keep getting GWX.exe errors on my windows 7 instilation.

One has to ask themselves why would Microsoft give away for free an OS as Good as Windows 10 is? The only answer I can come up with is advertising revenue. It is something like the discount card you get at a supermarket. You get a discount on certain items , and the discount at the sore is applied at their gas tanks. But they have a track record of everything that anyone with the card buys. They can figure out what to stock and how much to charge based on the shopping habits of the consumer. This is what I believe that Microsoft is doing, tracking where you go what you purchase as a marketing tool and nothing more. They are not tracking every word you type or have any sort of keystroke logger. Microsoft is not known for giving any thing away for free so this is what I think, I may be way off but there has to be a reason.

They are not spying on you in the literal sense , just using it as a marking tool much like Google does, IMHO.

I was told by a PC repair man that eventually MS will send updates to Windows 7 and XP that will make them unusable.
XP is already no longer supported. Win 7 will eventually reach the same state. But in both cases, you can still use them -- they'll just be unsafe.

Besides, both will die a slow death because hardware supplier will quit making drivers for them. So, when your printer wears out, any replacement will only work with Win8.x or Win10.

This works both ways. When I went to Win 7 from Vista, my AIO Printer would not work and the company would not update their drivers.

I'm sure someone will wind up complaining they were insulted and have this thread closed as well. I personally think all these type thread should be banned because they ultimately just turn into a *itch fest with people complaining to the mods. And titled threads like these are designed to do nothing but bring flame wars.

    My two cents.
That would absolutely kill the relevance of the entire forum , forums must have opposing viewpoints and differing opinions as that's what make them helpful and interesting to read .

Nobody always agrees (thank God) , and personal attacks on others shouldn't be tolerated of course but not liking a thread because of strong opinions being tossed around is certainly no reason to have it closed.

A few were closed that shouldn't have been already imo , some people are just way too sensitive , there is nothing wrong with strong opposing viewpoints at all .

Microsoft isn't spying on you. No one cares what music you listen to or what kind of porn you watch on your computer.
