    UPDATE:
    https://eu.community.samsung.com/t5/...ght/true#M7945

Hello everyone, we have received feedback from our technicians on this:

Samsung is currently reviewing customer inquiries about anomalies related to the SMART Percentage Used (on Samsung Magician) and/or Health Status (on Crystal Disk Info) of the Samsung SSD 990 PRO.

We were able to recreate the error under certain conditions of use.
To fix the problem, Samsung is expected to release a firmware update in February.

"We were able to recreate the error under certain conditions of use."

Like under normal, everyday use? lol.

It's like they are trying to say that you need to use it in a certain way for this to happen.

As far as i can tell, people are just using the drives like anyone would (and they still fail).

970 EVO Plus 1TB does not seem to be affected. Power On hours is only 585 hrs.
Would not run the SMART tests without the NVME driver v3.3.0.2003 installed.
    Both SMART tests passed 100%

That firmware has been out for over a year, so most owners of the 980 PRO are running that firmware by now.
(if you are running firmware version 5B2QGXA7 on your 980 PRO, then you are safe).
I would think Samsung would do the same thing for the 990 PRO as well. Yes?

Yeah, i hope they can fix the issue with the 990 PRO (just like they did with the 980 PRO a year ago).

And hopefully it doesn't end up like the 870 EVO have (which people still have issues with).

Hopefully this actually fixes the issue for the 990 PRO.

Also, do note that this firmware doesn't revert any damage/loss of Health that has already occured to the drive
(it only stops any future degradation from happening).

If your drive has already degraded due to this issue, then i would return it and get it replaced.
