Beware: CyberPower UPS with yellow glue inside could burn up

CyberPower, among a few others, is a leading UPS maker as it is generally known for producing very reliable uninterruptible power supply (UPS) units. However, if you happen to own one or more CP1350PFCLCD and CP1500PFCLCD UPS, then you should start exercising caution in case your unit is an old one.

Damn! My PC is on a 4 year old CP1350PFCLCD. Any idea what year it stopped being critical?

Oops!! Make that two units, one purchased 2012 now used in my HT, the PC one was purchased 2021 to replace an old APC. Both have been on 24/7 ...

I moved the old one to the HT when 4KUHD movies really yanked the TV display and the old 850 wouldn't hack it.

Man! You scare me, bought 2 units of these (CP1500PFCLCD) around a year-half ago and it seems to work fine 'till now but with this revealing I/we don't for how long.
I had 2 before dated from 12/2013 and it work pretty well until 11/2020 and it was replaced by the ones I mentioned above.

My 2012 one is inside my clothing closet

I have operational data showing on my desktop in the AIDA64 OSD panel but only for the newer one. Maybe it's time for replacement ...

Well, I had it wrong. The PC one is still the old one, which is good as replacement is simple. To get the closet one out somewhere else would be a nightmare due to how the wiring is placed behind all the HT furniture.

I thought because it actually showed 1350PFCLCD in the front the PC one was the newer one, while the HT one only shows 1350VA. But on the current CyberPower site it shows the 1350VA only model. Which makes sense now, when I ordered the replacement for the HT 850 I just replaced it with the new one, and the closet one is the newer 1350PFCLCD model.

I have a 5 year old Cyberpower that powers my 65" TV, cable box and surround sound system. I guess I'll have to disassemble it to check glue color. Or just dump it for an APS unit. Its power capacity is way more than I need. It was sized for equipment at my former residence. We downsized and less equipment connected now.

    Hmm...

The author of the video is a bit of an alarmist.

I have two of these CP1350PFCLCD Rev 2 units for a few years now and they are running great.
Unless the company orders a safety recall, I will let them be.

    What about all other electronics?
