It will get you a build 10240 and activated if you had an activated build already. You would then have to get build 10532. That would be the long way around. Better off making a ESD to ISO. I think you know the drill.
ESD to ISO - Create Bootable ISO from Windows 10 ESD File - Windows 10 Forums
First, make sure you've got backup media for your W8.1 OS, forget all the updates!
Then download and run the MCT, get the iso and mount it, then click on the Setup.exe;
add your MS account later as an Insider,
then in a day or two you'll get 10532.
That's gonna be the quickest way to go.
Everyone is talking about the same thing . . . how to get to Build 10532 from wherever you are.
1. Since the Insider Program has resumed, there have been no updates through the Slow Ring, which in the past have given us the occasional ISO to the current Build.
2. So far, there have been no ISOs available through the Fast Ring.
3. If you have an Insider Build installed (probably any one would do), you should be able to update to the current build from there.
4. I created a new Microsoft account and installed Build 10525 (ESD to ISO) on a laptop that has already been in the Insider Program, so I know that will work and will activate. It did for me. This route will get you to Build 10532; it did for me.
5. I would think that one could install any prior Build and then update to the current Build. I've done it before. However, since we're on a different route than before, it might take several "updates". I have no way of testing that for now.
And yes, you'd need a "link" to get to Build 10532 in any instance described above.
