CountMike here is what I found after a little testing. If your Diagnostic and usage date is set to Basic (AllowTelemetry set to 1 in registry see screenshot) then the Applicability key will not be rebuilt and Advanced options in Windows Update look like this. However, it you go to registry and change AllowTelemetry to 3 (see screenshot for registry location) then the Applicability key is rebuilt the next time Windows Update is accessed. To fully rebuild it you may have to open and close Windows Update a couple of times. Maybe this will make sense to you and you can get your new build.

I still have all settings greyed out, even in Feedback and diagnostics where it's stuck at Basic, can't be changed.

Looks to me like you will need to either reinstall 10240 or use that image you have!

Yes, increasingly so. I'm just left wandering if I did something to shmuk up those settings. I didn't play with privacy settings at all. Telemetry and everything is right where it should be, checked all the switches.

Are you saying that you cannot even change AllowTelemetry in registry to 3 at this location HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\DataCollection ?

Oh, I changed that, but nothing changed elsewhere.

I just found that the above setting can be over-ridden by a Group Policy setting which is a different registry key and is located here HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\DataCollection.

If you have a AllowTelemetry key here you can just delete it and the above key will then take precedence.

Update: Deleting this key if exists does not remove the setting in Group Policy. Run gpedit.msc Computer Configuration>Administrative Templates>Windows Component>Data Collection and Preview Builds>Allow Telemetry and set it to Not Configured.

Ok, goody, went to that key, deleted it, restarted computer and key was there again but with value of 1. I changed it to 3 restarted and upgrade settings were there except set ti slow ring. I changed it to Fast and here it is, downloading 10532 finally. Still don't know what caused the problem in the first place but what the hey, it's OK now.
Tnx. for all the help. As soon as upgrade finishes I'll be making restore point and a Macrium Reflect full disk backup. And an ISO of course, I have a collection of all of them

    Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee, Count!

I wanted to give Tacit some kudus, but I saw that the "thumbs up" sign isn't there. That's a bummer, because he stuck with you like a flea on a dog! We should be able to give kudus where they're deserved, dontcha think?
