Hmm...I snagged the August disc and it's nothing but 3.2GB of the August 2015 updates. And there is no installer or anything. So not exactly a timesaver by any means. I probably could have patched a live system faster than it took me to download this.

I thought this might be a disc full of ALL updates to get fresh Windows 7 SP1 install up to speed before hitting the net - but alas no.

    Surely 3.2GB isn't just August updates !

    Hi there

a cumulative ISO (or even ZIP / RAR / CAB) file would IMO be far more useful than having to hunt and search for a load of DVD's.

I also think that surely a month's load of fixes can't be over 3 GB - that's BIGGER than the OS itself !!!!.

    Cheers

What!! Can this only mean that Microsoft has relented, and is releasing XP SP4 at last?

Looks like each ISO is for a single Patch Tuesday release set. The link provided shows all the ISOs availabel to download, 9 years worth apparently, January 2006 through July 2015.

This is useful, I just did a re-install of Windows 7 on a clients laptop, it took nearly 32 hours to get all of the updates installed. <sheesh> don't want to have to do that again anytime soon.

But you still need to download the ISO, hopefully that goes quicker than the standard updates do.

Which makes me wonder about Windows 10. If this is the last so-called version, what happens in 10 years from now and you do a re-install, LOL it could take up to 4 months to get it updated :)
By that point you will have received new builds of Windows 10. So say in 2025, you buy a new PC with Windows 10 Build 5 (just making this up of course). You can NEVER go to a Windows 10 build before that, because by that point Windows 10 will have gradually transformed into a much different OS. From there you just download updates for the last few months.

    Sound about right folks?

Transform into a better OS you say? Well, I will agree to that, it couldn't possibly get any worse....Or could it???

I didn't say it would get worse. I only say that it will transform over the years, similarly to MacOS X. You couldn't run the original OS X on today's Mac because it was compiled for a Motorola CPU.

I liked the service packs, one download and update as many PC's as you wanted.
