Well, I decided to take the plunge. I have installed Win 11 on both my AMD desktop and my Intel-based laptop. So far, everything works as advertised w/o any heartburn. Thus far, thus good!

That's really, really just up to you and nobody else. Both of your machines are more than capable of running W11 without problems.
Only real "bother" for me was getting used to new UI but took me only few days to get used to it. At first I just used it parallel to W10 but once I changed to it permanently it got much easier.
I'd say go for it but you can also convert just one machine after a good backup. Nothing to loose like that.

    Hello CountMike,
well I made the plunge.. and Windows 11 upgrade or maybe its a downgrade lol installed without issue.. thankfully..

Only some minor issues like the version strings in various apps/programs.. still show 10. then the build # which is what it should be for Windows 11

Now you have jumped, maybe you would like a digital safety-net ...

    Windows 11 Forum

You would need to create a new User ( this is due to technical reasons but hopefully the same name as here is available), the tutorials have been added by Our resident Alien @Brink and are ready to smooth the transition

(if you have already done this, please ignore me )

Reporting in - updated one compatible laptop to 11 - all well. Tried updating my main rig via ISO - all well, programs, etc until after boot time. Nothing on the taskbar - totally unresponsive. Programs not minimising to taskbar. Apparently this is a known issue and the cmd fix namely - 'reg delete HKCU\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\IrisService /f && shutdown -r -t 0' - that didn't work. No way of getting into settings so in my case it felt as though I was in Beta testing mode.

Thankfully I was able to restore back to 10 via MR. Think I'll leave well alone for a while until Win11 matures.

Whilst looking for a fix/answer, it appears this taskbar problem was being reported to MS during insider beta testing and MS came out with the cmd command fix - meant to be temporary. So I feel as though 11 is still at beta stage. Wonder what other nasties are lurking under the surface.

I got the good news yesterday.

Windows 11 available on October 5-win11upd1a.jpg

Instead of clicking on the button Download and install I used the ISO file Win11_English_x64.iso, to update to Windows 11 Pro. I double-clicked on the ISO file and selected the default action of running Setup.exe. The update took about 45 minutes. The strangest thing was after the first login the following web page popped up. Can anyone explain why a German (I think) web page was displayed instead of an English one?

I have been reading a bit and trying to follow how Window 11 is performing and I have mixed feelings about upgrading. Also I have not been offered the upgrade here on this Z590 yet. Only had the new components installed for a couple days now, so I am not sure when the upgrade will come to the WU.
Some say Win11 is not stable enough to use for your daily computing. So I am on the fence about upgrading yet. I am also in Win 11 forum and following that as well. Because my wife wasted a drink over her tower and zapped the MB I now gave her my ASUS Z270 and I upgraded to a ASUS Z590 I guess I will have to upgrade my system specs here and Win11 forum :)
I will continue to follow Win11 and read what you all post. Maybe the next release of Win11 will be more stable and members here will post their experience with it.

    cheers
