Anyhow, I am going to keep this "Print Spooler" disabled until MS really sorts this vulnerability out for good. I don't use printing that much.

Doesn't that mean you will not be able print at all ?
I hope MS is not going to wait an eternity before getting a good fix for this nightmare. Probably will enable it before and disable it again right after a printing job.

I couldn't print to a networked printer after disabling the service.

Since I'm not running a server, I'm just going to leave the service enabled.

I don't think that is a good idea. It doesn't sound like this hotfix has solved all of the problem.

Currently been stuck on 21% for ten minutes. For installation. After being stuck on 100% for ten minutes. This is taking an extremely long time to install.

Either I haven't been paying attention, but now I see a negative sign in front of the 21%. Unless that's always been there in every update.
I got similar symptom on 2 very different PCs - it stuck at 21% for about 10 minutes, then at 74% for a couple of minutes. Installed OK (21H1 (OS Build 19043.1083))

As others have said, even if it's not effective against the vulnerability, my printer isn't available from the 'Net so it's sort of moot.

Updated yesterday, ran SFC and DISM no errors. Seems to have slowed my pre Vista laptop down.

In addition, I read this this morning. If a user or Org is susceptible, it's highly recommended to kill (disable) the Print Spooler service, or limit remote printing via GPEDIT. It's in the article.
