Installed KB5003637 without issues (automatic WUA, 30 minutes) now on build:
    KB5003637 Windows 10 2004 19041.1052, 20H2 19042.1052, 21H1 19043.1052-winver-9-june-2021.png
Dism + SFC checked OK, Storage Sense found 3GB W10 temp. update files that I removed and after I ran defrag/Optimizer (manually) for my HDD I no longer got the event retrim error (I don't have SSD).

    Not Myself said:
Update seemed to work properly, but after logging on and going to Settings/Windows Update, I was confronted by a blank page. Clicked on three or four of the other entries, such as Delivery Optimization, they all worked.

Rebooted to see if that would fix the blank Windows Update page; it is still blank.

Looked at Winver to see if anything had been updated, and found that I had moved to 21H1 from 20x.

Opened Control Panel/ Troubleshooting/Fix problems with Windows Update; after that spent some fifteen minutes looking for pending restarts, cancelled as it seemed to be stuck. Reran it, it immediately stated that it could not find any problem.

    What do I do now?
I have seen this happen as well when going from 20H2 to 21H1.
It gets stuck in a 10-15 minute loop of checking for updates.
Just give it a little while to sort itself out and it will be just fine.

    peace

My hard drive was sizzling for a long time even after rebooting (as always no ssd), but it seems that everything went smoothly (sfc ok)

I added to my original post, but I must have not bothered to submit the information.

What I added was that I ran the Windows Update troubleshooter a second time, which instantly informed me that there were no problems. I closed it, which took me to the open Settings/Windows Update page, which was now fully populated.

Strange, or it would be strange were this not Windows 10.

Just updated from 1023 with no problems, DISM and SFC reported no errors.

DISM reported the Component Store as having 1.48 GB of backups and disabled features. Is there any way to get rid of those?

    Cheers!

I I had tried that but I still get the same 1.48 GB of backups and disabled features. Any ideas why?

    Here's the whole tutorial...
Clean Up Component Store (WinSxS folder) in Windows 10

This is the most powerful of the commands related to this...

    Dism.exe /online /Cleanup-Image /StartComponentCleanup /ResetBase
