I use True Launch Bar which among other things has a weather function. Don't need another one .
I use a window - I just look out and see the real-time weather at my immediate location! Very handy! Also, I have a thermometer!

That, and a check of the forecast in the morning, and I'm well informed on the weather. I see no need for an "app" that shows me weather conditions at the nearest airport (wherever that might be), with a forecast for the nearest city (wherever that might be), 24/7 on my taskbar.

That said, I sure wish I'd get the news/weather thingy, so I can disable it

Well, it was part of the package and it only shows on demand ... plus windows (real) are not available in my den / HT. Everyone's situation tends to be different. But I did get to disable it!

'News and Interest' just appeared on both platforms after my second reboot post .964

    I guess it's sunny here today, [ 68°F Sunny ]

Worth noting, I have 'Location for this device' turn off and Cortana uninstalled, and yet it still knows the temperature and conditions for my city. Perhaps it's using my ISP's location.

This Weather Icon I could possible live with, but that huge mouse over pop up I can not.

( I do not have the 'Reduce taskbar update' context menu option, nor 'Open on Hover'. )

I suppose I could train myself to just move the mouse quickly enough to never trigger it's fly-out, similar to what I've had to do with those past Start Menu changes, but it's just not worth it to me.

I have learned to be grateful that I was at least permitted to turn it all off however.

It has again problem with WU service, when you open CMD as administrator, type powercfg /requests it will show this process

    EXECUTION:
    [PROCESS] \Device\HarddiskVolume4\Windows\System32\MoUsoCoreWorker.exe
    USO Worker

That means your computer will not go to sleep mode on time period you put in Power & Sleep settings.

Yes, it can be fixed by powercfg -requestsoverride command, but all people are not in the mood to have all fixes in their head, ordinary users want to have working Windows 10 without putting some fixes by themselves. The same was with UsoSVC service last year but it was solved with one of Windows CUs. This one needs to be solved too.

And of course, tested in 4 different PCs, this will prevent computer to go in sleep mode without a fix.

I tested also not working Lock screen not showing Weather detailed status in more than 10 different PCs, none of them showed any detailed Weather status on Lock Screen, Mail status will show on Lock Screen. This is a bug, started showing with November Windows 10 CU, probably programing mistake when Lock Screen not communicating with Weather app for getting data and put them on Lock Screen.

Two bugs are too much for serious business.

I can present one more. Mail app, when you open Compose new mail, it should use your keyboard language for checking Spelling in Options, Language settings and not use Windows 10 language, making you obligate to change spelling language every time you start typing new mail. Windows 10 language and keyboard/typing language are two different things. I use English for Windows 10 menus language and different language for typing in Word, Excel or PowerPoint which use keyboard language and everything is fine, but Mail app sticks to English or to Windows 10 language, avoiding to use keyboard language. It is obvious one tried to make it automatically process depending on language you start typing, but that is not working at all.

That is, total number of 3 bugs I found. Little bit ridiculous from MS programing team.

Simple fix for MoUsoCoreWorker.exe preventing sleep: I pause Windows Updates for 35 days, then unpause once a month when convenient for me to install the latest Windows updates.

I think you can disable it with gpedit thats what I did and it never prevented sleep again. It is under gpedit admin, windows components, windows update and then set "Enable Windows Update Power Management to automatically wake up the system to install scheduled updates" to disabled.

    Welcome to Ten Forums.

Not everyone will see it straight away. You'll just have to wait until it's your turn in the phased rollout.

Hello hansknaus and welcome to TF ,

Windows 10 Home doesn't have gpedit without 3rd party software IIRC. I prefer to avoid gpedit solutions for that reason. The wake up timers can be disabled via editing the power plan - I have done it that way.

    It broke my taskbar

For me this update eliminated my taskbar completely and forced me to use the Restart button to restart my PC. This brought my taskbar back so I ran the REG file that turns off the News/Interests option. My system is Home and does have dual monitors with the taskbar on the primary one, so I can't explain why the update failed for me.
