    Why not. Maybe, I don't understand your point, but if they (MS) are showing some new features it is for them to find out whether people like them or not. :-)

    I have never had it either. The only thing is that, in my case I am not an official Insider—Always get those insiders builds from UUPDump and installed them in a Hyper-V VM— that's probably why. To another of your points, Edge is my default browser; I guess I was tired of this fight between those main big browsers on my computer always trying for one to use their own stuff. So I had to make a decision and opted for Edge. I rarely use the others nowadays.
    I see nothing wrong with Edge or anyone who enjoys using it or testing it...;) I agree with you on the VM--probably best to test with all Microsoft, in that case. I've been running Win10 next to the metal (or as close to that as I can get) for the last few years, amazingly enough. Haven't had any major problems with all the builds I've installed so far.

    I did send MS a note about Edge a couple of years back, telling them that my biggest beef with it is that I can't choose which side to place my favorites sidebar on--I like the left--it's just a personal preference--a habit, really, developed over the years. It's comfortable, like an old shoe...;) I even mentioned that Internet Explorer used to let you pick where you wanted to place your favorites sidebar, etc. I got a nice note from them saying "stay tuned" we've heard the feedback--well, flash-forward to now and it doesn't appear the feedback was heard at all...;) Likely it wouldn't bother other people as much as it does me, I'm sure. I can't help but believe that they put it on the right simply to be "different"--and it's different, but it also takes a choice away from the end user of the browser. But like I say, that peculiarity is only my own.

    Does Edge actually uninstall or just hide? As I recall that is what they did with Internet Explorer.
    Good point... Wondered that myself. But it's not running and consuming resources and so the "news" icon in my systray is gone now. Weird, I thought, that I had to uninstall the browser (more or less) just to turn off that mandatory use of Edge!

    Thanks for this information. I did uninstall Edge but that just activated Windows Internet Explorer 11, which is not in the Add/Remove list. I'm pretty sure I can uninstall IE11 with a third-party uninstaller but I'll just leave it for the time being.

    @Winuser,

    I don't think one can uninstall Edge, but like with everything MS, changes sometimes happen. We will see what happens with PT March 09, 2021 when Legacy Edge will be completely removed with an update.

    Microsoft has given a bit more detail as to why Windows 10 users can't uninstall its Edge browser.
    "because Windows supports applications that rely on the web platform, our default web browser is an essential component of our operating system and can't be uninstalled."

    All in all, you have made the right move by adopting Chrome (Google). On the subject of the query sent to the Feedback Hub regarding the side your favorites should be, the answer you got is kind of a prototype. That's the answer everyone gets in the Feedback Hub after a request.

    On another note, nothing against you or anyone else, and with all due respect, I don't think that MS is going to satisfy every single user's wish in the Feedback Hub. Maybe for big bugs being reported by a slew of users around the world, but not for preferences that we might like or not. I do hope you see my point.

    Say what? Like I said I used Control Panel to uninstall Edge in a VM. Windows 10 Insider Preview Dev Build 21318 (RS_PRERELEASE) - Feb. 19-windows-10-insider-2021-02-22-01-05-08.pngThe name is there but there is no icon and clicking on the name does nothing.

    My way of getting Edge favorites on the left side of my screen is by making a favorites folder with all of my favorites and then place that folder in the Favorites Bar on the far left side of the bar. Click the folder open and they on the left side. Favorites bar must be set to show in Edge settings.

    Updated over the weekend. No apparent issues on either test machine. The problem with Friday releases -- for me, anyway -- is they tend to be busy days and I sometimes don't tune into the TF News Forum over the weekend, either. I got the updates installed, but didn't do my usual follow-ups or testing. Sigh.

    I do find it interesting paste as plain text is making it into browsers and even windows itself now, I dont understand how it was thought a good idea in the first place that a copy and paste of text between applications should include formatting.

    CTRL+SHIFT+V has pasted unformatted text for some time now.

    Nice to know thanks, but I expect many are not aware of that. :)

    It would be cool if the hotkeys could be reversed so ctrl+v plain text and ctrl+shift+v formatted text.
