Threshold to Bring back Startmenu?

Now, according to Mary Jo Foley’s sources, the Start menu is being pushed back until the Threshold release, due in 2015. Foley says these sources have “good track records,” so they’re probably reliable. Separately, Foley says windowed Metro apps are still on target for a Threshold release as well, rather than Update 2.

I think that pushing it back is a good idea to get it right. Looking a what is rumored I think that looks just great, IMO,.

I hope they make the new start menu configurable. Personally I wouldn't need access to metro apps from there and would prefer something like the old Windows 7 start menu.

The extreme tech article may have been a late copy of the one referred to here in the middle of April

They don't actually need to do anything now about the start menu as long as they don't shut out Classic Shell. Or if they can buy Classic Shell, that's the best thing they can do. Microsoft can't understand the fact that users like personalizing their OS and they are doing really bad at this.

I have used Classic Shell in the past and it worked just fine, but now I have the applications I use the most either on the task bar, or on the desktop, along with "All Apps" configured to open when I click on the Windows icon. This seems to work just fine for me. But if they do indeed bring back the Start Menu in Windows 9, I'm sure I would use it, even though I could get along without it.

It's not something I want or need, but I'll have a look at it if it becomes real. Hopefully you can turn it off if you want. I like the way the current Start Screen and All Apps screen work.

I have little faith in Windows 9, I think they will have a Start menu, cut out more Windows 7 type tools, push Bing to increase profits and try to incorporate their Cloud services. I doubt Windows 9 will be the savior people are hoping for.

I no longer have trust in corporate America, starting with Microsoft. They are little more than pimps trying to peddle their wares.

I don't have a problem with profit, and I didn't say that, so please don't put words in my mouth. I do have a problem of getting an inferior product and being charged the same or more. I also don't like paying for something that will shove advertising on me (I come from a time of free TV). I hope my future assessment of Windows 9 is wrong, we shall see.
