    Hi there

Seems according to that well known Russian site WZOR that Windows 9 is definitely on Ms's plans and will appear probably quicker than one thinks.

There seem to be two schools of thought though - will it be a subscription model with a lot of cloud based stuff or will it still be recognizable as a "Classical" desktop OS.

The desktop isn't going away any time soon -- anybody messing around with CREATING multi-media content for example - especially in any sort of professional capacity will realize that Tablets just don't hack it at all or even a decent powerful laptop. You need a REAL desktop PC. - and even here these often aren't powerful enough to do the job quickly.

The new OS needs to have a lot of algorithms in it for handling Multimedia efficiently rather than relying on essentially I/O bound apps like Office to be the systems mainly run on the desktop.

There's no problem in having a COMMON OS - for Mobiles and "Static Computers" but the mode of operation should be selectable either at Boot or at Install time.

    Cheers
