Windows 10 vs. Windows 8.1 vs. Windows 7 Performance

Overall 7 will load upto the desktop faster but you still have to wait for more then the gui to finish loading as seen with any version. The gap between the first logo screen and the desktop in 10 seems a bit longer while the processes are still loading in the background however so the hard drive led isn't quite so busy when you arrive at the desktop. A switcheroo of a sort! You can still working sooner since you wait longer.

Well naturally there are going to be some bugs to work out with any new version when first out. With XP it took how long for the much, much needed SP3? Vista saw the need right off for SP1 due to not reading system memory accurately and eventually saw SP2 arrive later as well while 7 was a leap forward for MS there only seeing SP1 with not so many fixes needed.

W8 introduced the new dual platform concept in it's infancy still needing quite a bit of work as well as seeing a few things brought back! W8.1 was the continuation and now 10 is starting to get where MS should be! When some start knocking 7 they should remember that it was hoped that what came next would be taking steps forward while 8? was under the hood more then the gui changes. W8.1 moved forward and now 10 looks like it here to stay! It's now starting to see MS continuing the momentum first seen and started with 7!

Can't honestly argue with that.

I would rather have the things I like about 10 shoehorned under the hood of 8.1.1 than have a lot of the things I like about 8.1.1 taken away in 10.

For the record, I didn't think much of 8 without a lot of 3rd-party customisation. 8.1 was a big improvement on the original 8, but an 8.1.1 setup, suitably tweaked, is simply a superb OS by any measure. I actually feel a bit sorry for those who chose to bypass it, because they'll likely never know (or understand) what they missed.

I'm starting to like 10 more as I get to know it better, and learn or pick up the hacks and tweaks to make it both less ugly, and to work the way I (and not MS) want it to.

That would be interesting to look into! I never use XBox or any other gaming system but still understand why MS would see this as something to include. I simply unpinned the tile from the Start box and replaced anything else not wanted with the apps I do run. I probably won't even get to use the uninstaller since I tend to avoid those as a rule anyways.

Gee having come all the way up from MS Dos and 3.1 through the 9X family not getting into ME or 2000 but onto "X P(ee)" and then relief with Vista came before finally a great OS 7 proved itself to be I wouldn't be without 7 for some time to come! No matter how good 10 turns out to be in the long run! W7 is a good and sturdy OS that was needed for 2009's launch! W10 looks like MS got the cross platform stuff worked out finally and of course the number "10" represents completion!
