@Brink, @Bree, @Calling all gurus - I have never enabled BitLocker in any installation or upgrade process, yet after this CU, I find my system and data HDDs all with the unlocked-padlock-and-yellow-warning-triangle icon indicating BitLocker enabled, but not turned on. Has anyone else had this sort of experience?

    Hello,

For now, let's see what the BitLocker status of the affected drives show from the command in the tutorial below.

No, not on my two 10 Pro machines that have had this CU. One has TPM enabled on in its bios, the other has it turned off (so that's not it). Both say 'bitlocker version: none' using Brink's suggested check.

Just when I had managed eventually to get a semblance of order from the previous update , this update shows no sound available after reboot many times !!

My experience is a flawless update to 449 with no issues apparent so far including sound. I did however receive the "Autopilot" update...but...I ALWAYS snap an image prior to any updating. After a rollback, I proceeded with the update again the next day. No "Autopilot" and no problems whatsoever.

But then, I try to keep as "plain vanilla" a system as possible - precisely to avoid update/upgrade issues. My experience has been that "most" of the MS updates/upgrades do, in fact, work just fine...IF...your system has not been excessively "tweaked" or overloaded with "security" software.

Not so my friend, "Tweakfiend " by name, but cautious, by nature,
    through experience .

    Hi there
    @rezpower

as I posted earlier in this thread - simply download latest version of Calibre -- improved a lot these days-- Free and works on both Windows and Linux -- excellent e-book management system -- also converts between various e-book formats so you can use for example epub e-books on Kindles etc.

    Cheers

Thanks a lot for the tip. I already tried calibre. English is not my first language and as I read mostly english books I am very dependent on dictionaries . I just found out that I can google lookup a word in calibre (which is done in an unpractical way). I wish there was a good dictionary and that it would not open a new page to show a definition. Still miss edge real bad! 😁😁

The Calibre book management system has been great for years, the reader not so much. Maybe the new version recently released will be better.
I think Sumatra PDF reader (minimalistic) can also open .epub files.

You don't have to have a Sony E-Reader (they've been discontinued for a while anyway) but the software is still good also for reading epub etc on the computer

Thanks. I'm currently trying Freda. A free e-book reader from the Store. It has also got text to speech which seems quite good.

The Freda app copies any epub documents into its own storage folder causing you to waste storage on duplicate epub files. I just uninstalled it for this reason, I've been using STDU Viewer but one of the above options may be better.

    Thanks jimbo,

I just installed Reader and really liked it. It has a very neat and nice interface and is what I really need. Only thing missing for me to as for other readers is the dictionary.☹ Dark mode would also be a plus !
