My Surface Pro 6 updated to 18362.418 without any hassles. A check for further updates showed a firmware update, which has also installed successfully.
I use both Vipre and Malwarebytes anti-malware apps (premium versions of both) and had Microsoft Security Intelligence set to do periodic scans. This function was turned off, but I'm not sure if it had been turned off before this latest CU. First attempt to update defs failed, 2nd was successful. Quick (?? almost 7 mins) scan ran without finding any problems.
While I have not tested all apps I use, the ones I frequently use are working OK.

Ensure UEFI (EFI) Partition is available. Some updates fail without it.

Everyone does registry tricks at one point or another, but we cannot remember all of them. One thing for sure is that my machine was working fine before the upgrade to 1903 (19H1). And as per previous post, the CP (Control Panel) issue was caused by MS changing the High Definition Audio driver for a generic one; the proof is that after replacing with the previous driver from a backup taken at the end of September, everything went back to normal. I had never, ever experienced this one before.

Regarding Remote Desktop, this is not new; from time to time, after an update something will go amiss in this feature. A chance that it is easy to fix.

I can consider yourself lucky that you didn't have any glitch with all your machines. Better to keep your hardware and software configuration the way they are for now. One never knows what can happen in the near future. It is a well known fact that sometimes MS's updates can cause difficult-to-fix bugs to one's machine. LOL

True, but some can also be the reasons updates choke or cause issues. It's fine to use registry tweaks, but I don't use them as a cure all or masking agent.

Anyway I use the Local Group Policy editor to disable driver installs since like you, I don't want (in my case) my GPU driver overwritten by an older Windows Update GPU driver.

I'm never going to say things don't go wrong or I've "never had an issue" after an update cause I'd be lying. What I will say is I do everything possible to minimize them by allowing Windows to run as designed to include using the built in tweaking tools where available. I also stay away from third party "performance enhancing" apps or registry apps like CCleaner.

All that said, I have to admit, the more you update a PC, the more likely you'll introduce issues. It's one of the reasons, I'm not a fan of the semi-annual update schedule where every six months you pretty much get a new OS. 12 to 18 months would be to my liking. Especially given Microsoft's recent spate of quality control issues.

We were also having 2 errors and MS catalog did not work either (screenshot). We did not try the troubleshooter and decided to do a clean install instead. That's how we got the latest CU to work, manually and offline.

No bug so far.

Maybe removing Edge (Unzip) and IE cause this failure. We're also trying a new corrosive cleaner for a month that may also be part of the equation: PrivaZerdotexecute.

Welcome to tenforums. Best thing to do is repair Install by using a .iso file from media Creation tool:
Repair Install Windows 10 with an In-place Upgrade
There are so many workarounds for this error message. Sometimes they work and sometimes (most often) they don't. Most users I have seen in tenforums got this error fixed with a repair Install. Don't worry, you will still keep your data files & Apps. Make a system image backup before, just in case something goes awry.
