I'm one of those who has to know what's actually going on so I went to ZDNet.com and looked. Here's what I found:

Referred to by some company watchers as "Service Release 1," the actual update package is officially known as KB3081424. (Thanks to The Verge's Tom Warren for a pointer to the KB.)
Microsoft delivers first cumulative Windows 10 update | ZDNet

When I clicked on the links to try to see The Verge's write up, I couldn't find anything. There are several articles around, though. But if ZDNet doesn't cover it, I'm inclined to think there's nothing to report . . . the confusion has simply come in from some industry writers having "named" the cumulative update to "Service Release 1". Maybe . . . Another thing that strikes me as a little off is that a date of August 10 was given.

Here's the source of the original post that started this thread; the Site is eTeknix, which I'm not familiar with, and that doesn't mean a thing. :)

Microsoft was quick to release patches for most issues reported and it looks like they’ve collected them all into one package and probably added the latest fixes as well and dubbed it Service Release 1, or SR1. According to the latest reports, that is inbound for next week, the 10th of August. So that is great news for everyone that stuck it out despite minor trouble instead of reverting back to their old Windows 7 or 8/8.1 installation.
Also, within the text, there was what looks like a quote, but with no source:

“Windows 10 SR1 is a cumulative update package. It will bring some new features, but the main purpose is to repair the system after release and fix the problems exposed.”
And, I misread, because everything I find says Edge will have extensions later this year.

    OK, I'm through editing, I think. :)

    Me too!

Required a restart. Normally a restart takes 30 to 45 seconds. This took 2 minutes 30 seconds to restart and come back to the lock screen.
