Anybody know if BitDefender 2015 Antivirus free and/or Total Security works on the big 10? I love Bitdefender products but after the install of windows 10, it disabled my antivirus of choice & Windows Defender became active. I will keep defender but only if MS has made it better than defender of 8.1 and old. Then it didnt fare as good as third party anti-virus in testing for malwares.
I don't know enough about Bitdefender to form an answer, but I am stunned by how intrusive I feel Windows 10 is. So many added apps not wanted or needed by me to clog my PC. After my own research, it was pointed out to me by others how much of personal data is transferred to 3rd parties if you don't manually go into the OS and turn off the automatic downloaded permissions that are in the on position. I still have not been able to run my preferred antivirus software correctly. I know upgrades always have learning curves, but I'm not liking Windows 10 just yet.

I have been keeping up with Bitdefender in their forums. Users say BD does work in Windows 10. But the web protection does not work yet. BD is working on a fix for it.

The Vipre team is also working on fixing the issues with compatibility matters between Windows 10 and Vipre Internet Security. The email protection works, but does not scan for cookies and a full scan took over four hours. My least favorite word and meaning at the moment is "upgrade"😄

Since installing the Win 8 betas, this machine has relied upon Windows Defender as its 'main' security program. It also runs MalwareBytes (originally the free 'trial' version, currently the latest paid version) with both programs set to actively scan.

No, they don't conflict with each-other, and no, I haven't had anything like a serious attack since I've been using this combo. This machine is running and online whenever I'm home.

MalwareBytes is very good at spotting and blocking crap before it even gets to the machine.

My other laptop runs Windows 7, with the free version of Avira (the best of the 'free' AV programs, imo, and I've tried most of them at one time or another) and the trial version of MalwareBytes. These don't auto-scan so must actually be run (or scheduled) occasionally, or there's no point having them. This machine doesn't spend a lot of time online, as a rule.

The XP/Vista desktop machine has no security at all on it, but then, it doesn't need any. Neither OS is internet-enabled, and any files or programs which go anywhere near the machine have already been through the security on one or other of the laptops, so are known to be safe.

Of course, and as always, YMMV. :)

I've used BD TS 2015 on W10. You can download W10 compatible BD products here:

How to install Bitdefender 2015 on Windows 10 with the offline installation kit?
Ok, thx Beaupeep. I have BD-TS 2015 on win8.1. After installing Win10, it automatically reverted me back to Windows Defender and stopped BD-TS. I thought it wasnt compatible with Win10, thats why it did that. But if u say it works no problem, i guess it's Microsoft's way of making us use their own Defender.
I think i will stick with Defender for a few months & see what the reviews are like, if it's improved from before (catching & preventing malware). If it's the exact same Defender in win8.1, im going to get BitDefender Anti-virus 2015. I thought total security was a bit large, many features in it i didnt use much like wallet, vaughlt, encryption etc.
