not able to create virtual switch

creation of virtual switch seems to be proceeding but stops and I get a message similar to this:
"Error applying virtual switch properties changes"
Failed while adding virtual switch connections

External ethernet adapter "'realtek pcie gbe' family is already bound to the MS virtual switch protocol."

searches in this forum = no results
on internet came up with results which led nowhere looking for "nvspbind"
Can anyone steer me in rt direction on this?

Please run PowerShell, type Get-VMSwitch and hit Enter. Take a screenshot of results and post here, see below for an example:

have to do some work on; getting screen shots but here is what the "get" returned
    ps c:\windows\system32>get-vmswitch

    name switchType netadapterInterfaceDescription
    ------ ------------ ----------------------------------
win7x64 external Realtek PCIe GBE family controller

In the meantime I will be learning how to "screen shot" and would to add that I am running
win 8.1 and win10 in a dual boot config and the creation of the bridge went swimmingly
on 8,1 except at the very end where it reported a problem; but in network the bridge showed and no red x's. In win10 it never showed a bridge, just the ms multiplexor.

First, here's some help with screenshots and how to post them:

In this case now a screenshot is no longer needed. The information you posted clearly shows that you already have an external virtual switch created and assigned to your Ethernet LAN network adapter.

In Hyper-V, you can only create one external switch per a network adapter, in other words the maximum number of external virtual switches is 1 if you only have one Ethernet adapter, two if you have one Ethernet adapter and one wireless adapter, and so on.

As you already have the external virtual switch assigned to your Ethernet adapter, you cannot create another one.
