    virtual com ports

What is the easiest way to make virtual com ports? I understand it will take a third party program. I looked online but there are sooooooo many and have no idea which ones are good and which ones are garage. Need at least one maybe two ports for my laser cnc machine. Thank All in Advance.

Insufficient information provided. A couple such machines I just read about on the 'net needed only one USB port, included the cable. If the software works like some of HP's printers the necessary install identifies a USB as a type of virtual comm. port.

I am using LightBurn software program to run the laser on my YoraHome 6550-PRO Diode Laser machine. When I open the Device Manager the is no Com Port(s) listed. Clicking on Show Hidden Devices also shows no Com Ports. The 6550 comes with a USB that holds files and the Drive. It is plugged in and working. But LightBurn requires a Com Port to operate. This is where the Virtual Com Port programs I read about come in to play. Just wanted to see which programs might be recommended.

I haven't tried it yet but there are USB to Comm Port adapters and should either have driver support in Windows or come with software to install. The traditional Comm ports were 25-pin Printer/LPT female, 25-pin Comm male and 9-pin Comm male. Then there is the 15-pin VGA port for monitors. Computers of the last few to several years haven't included those Comm ports on the motherboards, even my Desktop from April doesn't have the VGA port, requires either HDMI or DisplayPort for the monitor. Technology is always advancing but also leaving some things behind.
