Sync your settings fails in V1703

Four "experienced" computers. Dell 380, Dell 660, Dell 1545, Dell 5520. All were late updating to V1703, just starting last week. The last one, the Dell 1545 updated today. It may be relevant that it is the oldest of the four.

All now show version 1703 Build 15063.483. All use the same Microsoft account and have only one user who has administrator privileges.

All but the 1545 kept the previous On setting for sync. On the 1545, Sync your settings is set to Off and is ghosted with the message Some Windows features are only available if you are using a Microsoft account or work account. There is no doubt that I am using a Microsoft account, and that it is the same one on all four computers.

With the exception of the few new settings added in v1703, all are configured the way they were previously and sync worked before the updates. All are configured identically now except for sync, which is "broken".

It is interesting that the Dell1545 is the only computer that did not ask me to verify the account in Settings > Accounts > Your info. And it does not have the "Manage My Microsoft Account" link. But it indicates that I am signed in to the proper account and as the administrator. It is as if it really does not recognize that I am logged in. (It does show the "Sign in with a local account instead" link.) All that makes no sense.

    Any ideas?

(All machines have some Gaming options that are not available, Game DVR and Broadcasting. But that is expected since they are old machines. That is not a problem since these are all used only for Internet access and "data processing, not gaming. But I sure would like to be able to sync the settings on all four.)

    No response.

I found a solution that worked on another site (and several that didn't work, of course).

The one that worked for me: I logged on to that very same account at Store and, miraculously, doing nothing else, Accounts let me set sync. That's surely a bug ("feature"?) but only on one out of four computers.
