Configure Windows to show hidden files. Delete all subfolders and files under the NGC folder, but DO NOT delete the NGC folder itself. Hope this will work.

    Same Problem!

I'm having the exact same problem as you described in your first post, running Windows 10 (Ann. Edition) having just reset my Surface Pro 4. I can't use Windows Hello because of this pin problem as well!!! Did you get it fixed?

    Fixed!

I just got some updates on my Surface Pro 4, restarted, tried again, and it worked! Was able to setup Hello again, finally.

I ultimately could not fix it, and another problem I ran into led to a complete reinstall of Windows and backing up all my data to an external HDD prior to the reinstall.

The clean install fixed it, but that's to be expected. Hopefully someone finds a more practical solution. xP

I am at nearly exactly the same point that KingDecimator was at initial post.
(Pin was broken, tried deleting all folders under NGC, didn't solve it. Switched to local account, no help, switched back, no help. Trying to add a pin when switching back to MS Account says "something went wrong". Trying to add a pin now gives little thinking dots for a second or so and then nothing happens.)

Also though, presumably at the same time the pin broke (or after as I tried to fix it, not sure) I have also the additional problem that I have no login box after I have Win+L to logout, or timed out. When you hit the space bar to login the screen changes like it would to let you log in, I have the power icon and two others at the bottom right, but no users list and nowhere to type a password. Rebooting allows me to login, but then of course all my open apps and work is gone.

If anyone else have resolved this or has additional ideas I would appreciate the help!

I have the same problem. Windows 10 build version is 10.0.14393 and I've installed all updates. I use a local account. When clicking "Add PIN" in the Settings screen, it lets me to type local user password. After clicking OK, nothing will happen and the "Add PIN" button is still there. Please help!

Just a few minutes ago I got the adding PIN to work. My fix is start the service named "Distributed Transaction Coordinator", re-open the Settings and I can then add PIN successfully.

@CodeFused: I had the EXACT same issue, then I followed @michielsen's last post and it worked after restarting the laptop.

To reinitialize the "Distributed Transaction Coordinator", follow the steps in the link below: Troubleshooting Problems with MSDTC

I hope you obtain the same success as I did.

    Best,
    Bruno.

I would like to add that the DTC services fix didn't work for me, but the following did:

    https://social.technet.microsoft.com...10itprogeneral

Make sure the security and child settings of the folder are set correctly then run the command line, reboot. Worked for me!
