    Verify identity MS acc

I've had this before. I go into the users GUI and see under my acc it wants me to verify. I click it and it goes away and back to normal. Its rare, it happened once months ago and and now again this evening. I prob wont be bothered by it for another few weeks or months. But why does it happen? Is it intended MS check

I haven't ever seen that happen? I do the verify once and that's it. I don't go to that particular screen very often though.

    Cheers for the response.

Maybe if I'd left it, it may of auto verified. Admittedly I go in that screen quite a bit as I check it a lot (purely because it's happened before and I became aware of it because the notification centre popped up alerting me to it). But I think something must trigger it. God knows what though - am trying to think what I did differently last night or this morning. The only thing is I took a peek at the 'Groove' app, which I never use, just to remind myself how lousy it is! Maybe the sign in process there is a catalyst. But I suppose pinpointing why Windows wanted me to verify will be like looking for a needle in a haystack!i tried googling the issue, there are plenty of reports of it but they are all people who get prompted several times a day or once a day. Not the same as me, I think I got the PC in September and it's the third time it's happened.

Weird? There a are few items locked out by it if you don't do it. Mostly sync functions like passwords to web sites you told IE to remember for you. Some customization settings to I think. I usually do it during setup. I just get the e-mail on my other PC and use sneaker net to enter it on the PC I'm setting up. I have no idea what might trigger it though?

I have this happen at times after I had run CCleaner, it was clearing out the Windows Credentials. It doesn't do it all the time, but when it does, I would get a notification to verify and the credentials to log on to the other systems and the "generic" credentials for the Microsoft accounts would be gone.

What I do now is back up the credentials before I run CCleaner and then check after to see if they are still there. You can check them from Control Panel > Credential Manager. I made a shortcut to it and save the credentials on the desktop and to my data disk. If they are gone, you can restore them easily.

    Hope this helps.

Thank you so much. If the verify thing starts to plague me I will do exactly that. At the moment it happens weeks/months at a time so it's a minor thing. But I do wonder what the trigger is as I don't use ccleaner I only really use the native apps, office 365 and steam. I just feel sorry for the poor sods who get this prompt on a daily basis - seen quite a bit of that whilst googling the issue with no real fixes. A lot of the threads just stop, I guess the posters either give up or solve it but don't post back to say what solved it!

Well it happened again just over a week later. The fix is easy, all I have to do is click verify and the prompt goes away. I just would like to know the trigger for it occurring. This morning because of all the native app updates overnight I was batting between the several family user accounts in quick succession testing all those apps. I wonder if that was a trigger in that Windows doesn't like logging in and out of your account too many times in a short time period. I was in and out of it three or four times within twenty mins or so. I also went into solitaire app which in turn logs into the Xbox id, it spends a few seconds logging in - maybe a trigger point there. It's not a huge issue, more a minor niggle but something I wish Windows wouldn't do
