    Thanks that was quick.
The reason I ask is because I cant get my Windows 7 Pro to let me be Administrator .I fear that once 10 is on I will be blocked from my PC due to not being the Administrator. My daughter set the admin account but forgot the password so I use it as a guest.
    thanks Andy

I'm not sure if you can actually perform the upgrade as a guest, an admin account is the basic requirement to make system level changes, such as a system upgrade

You will need to solve the user issue you have with Windows 7 before you can look at the upgrade.

Forum Rules mean we cannot help with password issues here, but if you contact a local PC Technician they will normally be able to quickly reset your system to allow you to proceed

I can't tell you how to find your password(forum rules even if I knew a way),
but I can give you this option:

You can backup all your data to an external device,
and reinstall Win7 with a new admin password,
let it update & update & update & update and when it's finished updating hours later(sorry but that's how it is with the old operating system),
then you can upgrade, and put your data on Win10 and install your 3rd party programs on it.
You might want to get any drivers you will need(video, and keyboard) also from you PC makes site before hand.
@Barman58, is this ok with forum rules?

If you have access to your win7 key, and you can download the Media from Microsoft, you could always do a clean install of Windows 10 and use the Win7 Key to activate.

Of course this would clear all data and applications from Win7 but as long as you've backed up your stuff, a refresh is often a good thing as it removes all those little annoyances that build-up over time.

Of course the fresh install route does not have a roll back option

Thanks all .New 7 install seems a good idea but I will loose Office ,Photoshop, DVD copy to name a few ,I dont have a Windows 7 CD either is this needed?
Its annoying that because of criminals I cant get help on passwords. I use the PC every day its my PC yet I cant become administrator of my own PC.
    Thanks again Andy
