    Admin password lockup Windows 10

    Product Name: P3X7A#ABA
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

    see attached

Got this computer on HSN last November didn't open till xmas. In set up thought it was odd I ended up with a sign-on of just using a "pin". Wondered why it didn't take the password I wanted (and have since no recollection of what it was) . Anyway now I realize that it's saved password for the administrator password so when that was needed.

so here I am I keep getting a screen it's telling me wrong password and then having a very frustrating time. needing to get back in the computer so I can fix it as I have a virus .

also just loaded all my important files and data and get his computer and had not gotten to the point of backing up that I was still very much in the initial set up how I wanted things to be .

I am hoping there is a resolved to this without losing everything

    Hello HIKER7s, :)

That error means that you just entered your password incorrectly in netplwiz.

You should be able to click on OK in the error message, then sign in with your correct password. After you are signed in, go back to netplwiz, and start over entering your correct password to stop this.

    Hi Brink,
first of all I don't know what netplwiz means. Also your resolve doesn't work as this is an administrator password error that will not let me by to get back in to the computer .

The link in my post will explain what netplwiz is.

When you get the incorrect password message at sign-in, are you able to click/tap on OK in the message to then be able to enter your correct password?

Hello Brink, and thank you for your time on this thread.
The reason why I think that your routine isn't fitting my situation is for instance, the screenshot of the login screen where it says the username in your routine;? In my scenario it has my email address.

I just called HP support and it's like $99 for them to fix this.
I'm confident that I can fix this if given the right parameters to go by. just want to be sure before I go in.

Is this an HP admin password or a Microsoft?? I logged into Microsoft no problem on their website. Confused now.

It should work for your Microsoft account as well.

Do you get an OK option in the incorrect password message to click on like below?

If so, do have the option to enter the correct password after clicking on OK.

Im sorry but I've tried for almost an hour to get these to post right side up. Anyway this is what I get it tells me it's wrong then I press ok, it gives me another box... Then if I try again we cycle through these two screens.

    thanks for your time

I removed your screenshots since they were showing your email address.

Since it still won't accept your password, you can use OPTION THREE in the tutorial below to reset your Microsoft account password on any computer. As long as your computer is connected to the Internet, the new password will sync to it.

ugh, went through option three fine. the two step however placed me in a screen to fill out all kinds of contact data and verification stuff then told me they had 24 hours to respond. in he meantime just tried the new password in there and doesn't work.
