Pin & Password not accepted after msconfig diagnostic startup

Using a Shift-Restart I can get into the recovery menus and even login to the command prompt using the same password that doesn't work at GUI boot. Is there a way from the command prompt to set it to what msconfig calls a normal boot? Thanks!

Hello @Altauri , welcome to Ten Forums.

Type the following command directly at the Command Prompt. Press Enter and it will turn off Safe Mode.
    bcdedit /deletevalue {current} safeboot
Reboot your computer with the command:
    shutdown /r
Now your computer will boot back into normal mode.

Thanks @Ghot, unfortunately it said that the safeboot value wasn't present. And this does make sense as when it boots I do get a normal looking login page, just when I enter the PIN or password they don't work. Thanks!

You can use Hiren's to reset your password.

    • Boot your computer with Hiren’s BootCD PE.
    • Goto Start Menu -> Securiy -> Passwords -> NT Password Edit
    • Open your SAM file (It is usually located in C:\Windows\System32\config\SAM).
    • Click your username and the click ‘Change password’. To set a password, type your password both ‘New password’ and ‘Verify’ fields and then click to ‘OK’. To remove the password, leave both ‘New password’ and ‘Verify’ fields blank and then click to ‘OK’.

    Download | Hiren's BootCD PE
