I never had to do this. I installed Windows 10 with internet off and all drives except for the target SSD disconnected. The setup never offered anything but the local user account. Afterwards, I connected to the Internet to activate Windows and it did not even ask me for the key (that I wrote down from the download site, that was not necessary apparently). So my Windows copy is not aware of any email addresses I might have and it never asks me to use any of them.
You won't need the code if you don't use a live ID. With a Live ID you can sync website passwords etc though the one drive sync feature across multiple PC's. If I log into say Windows 10 forums on my laptop and I tell it to remember this site. When I log into my desktop with my live ID that password gets synced to it. The code sent through e-mail is a safe guard measure so somebody can't spoof your live ID e-mail and get your passwords. The passwords and some other sync settings won't work until that PC is a trusted PC.
My problem is that I have three PCs (two converted). When it asks me for the email address, I have to give it the email address of my PC associated with the Microsoft Account which means that I have to go into the other room to get the code and come out and enter it on the PC I am working on.
Is there a way to associate the other two PCs with a different email account under the "master" Microsoft account?

Log into your account online and check the options. You might be able to add another e-mail account as an alias. I do believe sending a text massage to a phone is also an option. You can also click the I can't do this now option. Then do it latter on when you have your e-mail client setup on that PC.
Thanks for the ideas. I tried before and I tried again and I cannot see any place to set up different emails for my other PCs. In fact, they tell me to use the same account email with my other devices.
I only use my cell phone for emergencies. I do not do texting. Too old to learn and no one to text to. Sorry.
I have email clients on all PCs. The problem is that the Microsoft account is tied to the main one.
Also, I cannot find a place at the Microsoft account to really contact anyone.
I guess I could try the Microsoft forum but they do not respond like the members on this forum.

The official answer is that I would have to set up a Microsoft account for each PC and register that PC to its own MS account.
That is not something that I really want to do, so I guess I will continue going to the other room to get the verify code when the situation comes up. Or figure out how to get a text to my phone.
