    Safe Mode

Just tried to go into Safe Mode but it is asking for a password. Which one is that? I've tried all Windows passwords I have but none of them work!

Not used safe mode for years so I'm stuck now.

Hi, do you normally sign in using a PIN or Windows Hello - or perhaps you set up your account to log in automatically (no logon prompt)?
If you use a PIN, Safe Mode requires a password- the one you set.

Option 2 might help you, depending on your user profile configuration, or the later options:

Hi, Yes, I use a 4 digit pin but every time I use it I'm told it isn't correct! Yet I can still login to my main screen using it.

I just tried to create a reset password disk but it wants my current user account password. What is that?

I know Microsoft are protecting us but I find it all very confusing!

"Hi, Yes, I use a 4 digit pin but every time I use it I'm told it isn't correct!"

You HAVE to use a password to get into and, more importantly, OUT of Safe Mode. Since your PIN works, go to Settings/Accounts/Sign-in options. If you have a password, 'Change' will appear and, if you have a MS acct, will take you there. If you have Local acct instead, you may have a 'hint' set up if you hit 'Change' and can't enter. If you do, indeed, have NO password, 'Change' button should read 'Set up' or something like that. See this screen -

Great - make sure you know your logon details for Safe Mode too.

I spoke too soon. Having created a new pin and a new Microsoft login, when I try to get into safe mode neither of those work! I'm getting confused!

As said before, in Safe Mode a password is required.

When you first created 4 digit pin you also created user account password this is the password you can use to login to Safe Mode.

Yes, I realise that but neither password or pin work.

I then set up a local account and finally got into safe mode with networking, but there was no internet connection. Now I need to restart, and try and print out Brinks option 2 to clear the spooler. I had those in my Clipx but that was empty so I had to abort for the moment.

Do it tomorrow, had enough today!

OK, but where do I find that? I've changed it now.
