While at the password screen hold down the shift key and click the power icon then hit restart. Keep holding the shift key until it brings you to the more options screen. Click trouble shoot then advanced options then recovery and look for return to windows 8 or 7 option.

Thank you, that's what I was wanting to do anyway. Tried that, but it won't allow me to restore previous version. Guess I'm stuck with Windows 10.

Like most on this thread I am locked out of my laptop due to my password being refused even after 3 resets. I logged into my Ms account on my iPad and finally got through to a 'tech' who spent three quarters of an hour trying before giving up and booking me in for a call from the grade 2 techs,,,, on Saturday at 6pm !!! What a pain. I am not a Ms knocker but feel rather let down.

Did you try changing the keyboard language like I mentioned 3 posts before yours?

I'm having the exact same problem! I know all the passwords its requesting are correct; I even used the pin number it made me set up and I'm getting nothing. It's beyond frustrating.

I called Microsoft the day before yesterday and they put me on hold for TWO AND A HALF HOURS before saying that a level two technician would call me back between ten and noon on Monday. Then they had the nerve to call today, Sunday, when I was nowhere near my phone, and leave a message saying that because I couldn't be reached they'll try again on TUESDAY. needless to say, I'm appalled by this whole ridiculous situation. I'd like to know if anyone else manages to get it solved.

Mine keeps saying "this device is offline, log in with the last password you used to access this computer"

Even though my internet connection is fine. My laptop says its connected, and the WiFi works on my phone and iPad. And my 'last password' also isn't letting me log in.
