    Thanks.

I've now downloaded file Win10_1511_2_EnglishInternational_x64.iso from MS Techbench. This contains setup.exe dated 27/04/16 version 10.0.10586.0. What Windows version is this and how many updates will be needed? My laptop which is up to date has version 10586.318.

The cumulative updates, any security patches, and anything else released since the version of the build was first uploaded would be seen by way of the Windows Update. The difference between the November update and the present download would be like comparing a previous version with two releases one with and another without a service pack applied. You should start immediately seeing a number of small updates arrive once the build is up and running which will see that updated to the latest.

In the past a service pack would be a large roll up of updates seen over a year's time while 10 is seeing an entirely newer build instead. For the TH2 that simply mean more updates included for each newer 10585.xxx number. the 318 can also reflect being a mobile not desktop variation of the same build that might see 10586.168.

That ISO file was current on April 27, so you will get the Windows Updates from April 27 to now. The build in the ISO file is probably 10586.117.

That will likely only be about 2 or 3 at the most in only a little over a month's time. If you have things set to auto you will likely not even notice when those go on unless one requires a full restart and gets scheduled for it.

The installation updated very quickly to version 10586.318 and installed only four updates shown below:
    Attachment 84745
Upgrading using this Tech Bench ISO was very easy for me, although there are a few niggles reported in threads elsewhere on the forum.

May I suggest a more universal and secure link to the Tech Bench program page ?

    https://www.microsoft.com/software-download/techbench

Note https instead of http, and en-us removed, so that it displays according to each visitor's language parameters.
