You are welcome Joanne
However, you will not necessarily require a key for reinstallation (won't make a difference using it tho') - see my explanation here, hope it makes sense.
I posted this question elsewhere in a different way. but I can't find it now.
What I am confused on. Can you use the media creation tool to upgrade to windows 10 and it activate? Totally by-passing the gwx applications? As I said in the other post, I am having issues with gwx and windows update freezing. I restored from am image backup and I am going to try using Gwx again and hope it works. I know Microsoft is supposed to come out with an iso image that you can use to upgrade to windows 10 but don't know when they will post those.
Hello Groze,
Yes you can. :)
Can I reinstall Windows 10 on my computer after upgrading with free upgrade?
Once you’ve upgraded to Windows 10 using the free upgrade offer or Media Creation Tool on an activated Windows 7 or 8.1 PC, you will be able to reinstall, including a clean install, on the same device. You won’t need a product key for re-activations on the same hardware. If you make a meaningful change to your hardware, you may need to contact customer support to help with activation. You’ll also be able to create your own installation media like a USB drive or DVD, and use that to upgrade your device or reinstall after you’ve upgraded.
I have question I had PC with 32 bit windows 7 ultimate. It was successfully upgraded (and activated) to windows 10 pro 32 bit can I download 64 bit windows 10 media and do clean install 64 bit over Windows 10 pro 32 bit? in that case will me activation still be valid?
Oh sorry it was already answered i believe
Hello dilpazir, and welcome to Ten Forums.
Yes, you will need a product key to activate it on another computer.
