Not everyone uses Chrome however while I still have it on as well as several other browsers I lean on Waterfox, FF, or even Cyberfox as the default. Cyberfox came about when FF 43 and 44 as well as Waterfox being too close from 42 on through 44.0.3 were all pooched! WF 46 however saw that all cleared up. At least you found a workaround for Chrome to pass along.
Yep I had one drive go boobs up when the 10 first came out and is why I am sticking to using a clone to try stuff out - maybe expensive and people might think it is overkill but heck I am so safe and stress free knowing I can stick the original drive back in and be up and running. That it can be! Found that out fast last summer when things got bonkered right at the start! Both storage/backup drives since replaced each saw something that have been found on the now main C drive that is with 7 now F drive having two optical drives taking the D and E letters. Since that time the main build here has only missed the two builds that followed immediately after the November TH2 update.
Here I already had a drive to receive a second OS set up originally when planning the present build out. With the previous 7 host drive cloned at first followed by a fresh install of 7 on the then second OS drive it was still having the other two storage drives being present when the 7 host/boot drive was unplugged that saw the initial upgrade attempts falter!
Once those two were unplugged and later examined 10 went on over the fast temp 7 install without issue subsequently being replaced by the second clean install. Later once having given 10 a good look over I ended up buying an OEM dvd set for the key in order to sustain the 10/7 dual boot rather then replacing everything on 7 with 10. Each upgrade since on the main as wel as a second desktop has been upgrade by update along with several VMs. Next VM Education edition for a look!
I wasn't saying otherwise. The problem is finding a workaround for each of the other browsers other then IE and Edge which arrive without hesitation. That download page and the Tech Bench page alike have been the only two MS pages to continue seeing that unable to sign in problem come up. Never any problem arriving at MSDN, TechNet, or even the main Insider Program pages only the download pages!
Yep - I get this ALWAYS with Firefox, and it's for anything that has a login.live.com address in the beginning - even links in a Google search take me to that error. It's driving me nuts! Constantly having to switch browsers is a pain. I have no idea how to resolve this.
Not sure exactly what you mean by incognito using Chrome, as I can login from my Chrome, to my live mail account, shows me logged in at the upper right hand corner, even displays my pic. Then I can go anywhere, including tech bench with no problem at all. Its always been like that. I see no difference between Chrome or IE in that area at all.

Browse in private with incognito mode
If you don’t want Google Chrome to save a record of what you visit and download, you can browse the web in incognito mode.
How to go incognito
You can open an incognito window on your computer and mobile devices to prevent Chrome from saving your browsing history. You can switch between an incognito window and any regular windows you have open. You'll only be in incognito mode when you're using the incognito window.
