Yes I know what you mean mate at my own place an ISO for say the 7 Pro would download in less than ten minutes. he only reason I mentioned the portable broadband is that it might not be so prone to drop outs like the land line one.

The broadband out here is a real issue our previous government set in place what was called the National Broadband Network (NBN) and it worked via these
    • Fibre to the premises or FTTP
    • Fibre to the building or FTTB
    • Fibre to the node or FTTN
    • HybridFibre Coax (HFC) or more commonly known as Pay TV cable
    • Fixed wireless
    • Satellite

as you can imagine with such a large country area and the terrain copper or optical and the first four options are really for city people and dreamers. But the incoming government cut it back by a fair bit until the crapstorm broke and they are trying to play catch up leaving us with third world conditions in places.

    But back on topic eh?

They've been saying FIOS around here for several years now and still waiting! In a way this is on topic since many are effected by download speeds as well as their individual connections. :)

How can I run the so-called Media Creation tool on another partition on my PC?
It keeps demanding that I free up 16 GB on my OS partition.
Why does it need 16 GB to download a ~4 GB ISO in the first place?

Looks like I'll have to use Option 1.

    Hello Peter, :)

I would recommend Option 1 as well to avoid that.

Since the MC tool downloads and unpacks the setup files in the "$Windows~BT" and "~WS" folders the setup still runs from one of those locations on C unless you did what was put to a test over the weekend and actually copy the entire BT folder over to a second partition which happened on the other new VM which then forced the clean install.

An error did come up however showing there was no upgrade path? Yet that was a 10 Pro VM while the BT came from the main when the other Pro VM lacked the boot.wim file. Something about how the system is detected as far as the correct files are downloaded for the particular edition as well as preset conditions as far as which updates will be downloaded as well. Just be prepared to receive the 10586 TH2 build from either direction while I keep running into the Can't sign in screen when going to click on the Tech Bench link in Option One.

I've been seeing that come up for some time now and end up needing the MC tool or copy an iso over from the physical to VM when setting something up.100% configured on the new recording which will be YouTube friendlier but a little longer this time around! In this recording you see the old as well as new 10 set up screens at work which adds a new twist!

I can't see any security hash numbers on the download page.

How can I confirm that my ISO downloaded correctly?

Thanks, but I didn't see anything about the Windows 10 Home edition (specifically Single Language English-International).

I guess that I'll just have to install it and hope for the best.

Initially at least when going to use the MC tool the Single Language download was 32bit Only! I ran into that when going to download that with the MC Tool. The MC tool downloads are automatically verified before the media creation phase begins. With the tool you still have the option with that to save the "Windows.iso" locally.
