With ISO images i have always used a DVD and even used the standard windows burner with no issues . In Bios all you do is set the boot order to your DVD drive as the first option or USB stick as your first boot option .

OK, my Win 10 reservation is still in reserve mode even though it has been since the first day of availability, so after reading this thread and posts about D/Ling the MCT to make my own USB ISO..... It's working so far (but slowly). I don't have a terrifically fast connection but I'll just let it spend the evening doing it's thing a hope I get it downloaded OK.

Thanks for all the great info provided on this site by all the staff and fellow members.

    Hello Harrier,

I hope it doesn't take to long for it to download for you.

I'm retired and don't have much to do other than "wait"..... so, I'm in no big rush at this point.
I'm happy to let it do it's thing while I watch TV etc. (or sleep).

Edit: D/L complete just before my bed time

Just before bed time? To me that is unacceptable , no way i could sleep until i do a full install , sleep is overrated anyway , good luck Harrier.

I believe the easiest way to just make a DVD ISO , and then to the upgrade when Microsoft send you an email saying it is ready.

I did my win 10 upgrade last night and all appears to be fine... after the upgrade I reloaded my Norton 360, and it is now doing fine..

    All be safe.. Cliff M.

What is the best/easiest option for making the ISO - on a DVD or a USB? This is so that I can do a disc format and clean install in the future. Is one option better than the other or does it really not matter? I just don't want to be caught with the USB not loading because the formatted system has no USB driver for example.

I thought my connection was very fast I can download a movie in half an hour! my iso took 8 hours to complete, and I still dont know if it has worked properly.
    Misty:

I believe that the time to make and check your ISO file should be less than 90 minutes .

You could also just as easily use the Media Creation Tool to directly upgrade with. See step 3 in the tutorial below. :)

    Misty,

The easiest way to test an ISO is to see if it will mount or not. If it does, then it should be fine. :)
