I changed the default browser from Edge to Opera and then I I imported "http.reg" and "url.reg". It didn't work. Default browser remains Opera. How do I change HTM, HTML, URL, etc., file association by using only registry in Windows 10?
Hello XP1, and welcome to Ten Forums. :)
URL is associated to your current default browser by default.
I've added HTM and HTML to help. Their defaults is Microsoft Edge.
Hi, I've just installed Notepad++ and accidentally associated .cmd to it and after using .reg file provided for .cmd files and merging it in a administrator and ensuring that changed have been written to registry I restarted the win 10 expecting everything to be fixed but nope that is not the case ...
EDIT: nvm, I searched for some more .cmd in registry, found and deleted in "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Roaming\OpenWith\FileExts\.cmd" and everything returned to normal.
I suggest adding the action of removing "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Roaming\OpenWith\FileExts\.cmd\UserChoice" at the very least to your .reg file

Hello razinal, and welcome to Ten Forums. :)
In that case, you could also do a system restore using a restore point dated before this happened to quickly fix it.
System Restore Windows 10
That's right,I searched for '.cmd' in registry, found and deleted "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Roaming\OpenWith\FileExts\.cmd" and everything returned to normal.
how about adding the action of removing "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Roaming\OpenWith\FileExts\.cmd\UserChoice" to your .reg file
