How to Turn On or Off Offer to Save Passwords in Microsoft Edge in Windows 10

Microsoft Edge is a new web browser that is available across the Windows 10 device family. It is designed for Windows 10 to be faster, safer, and compatible with the modern Web.

When you visit a website that requires you to sign in, Microsoft Edge will ask if you want your user name and password remembered. The next time you visit the site, Microsoft Edge will finish filling in your account info.

Starting with Windows 10 build 17074, Microsoft Edge now provides an option to never save password for certain sites. When you choose to never save passwords, you shall never be prompted with a save password notification for that site.

This tutorial will show you how to turn on or off the offer to save passwords in Microsoft Edge for your account in Windows 10.

Turning off the offer to save passwords does not delete previously saved passwords in your Microsoft Edge.

Hello again. So there are some sites I answered NO to save password, is there a way to undo that and bring up the prompt again. I have tried toggling on/off, tried entering a different user and password for the site to retrigger it but no dice.

    Hello hotrippr, :)

You should be able to go into your "Manage my saved passwords" settings below to remove the site to have it ask again next time.

Yes I thought that too, but unfortunately websites (e.g. Hulu) that you previously declined to save the password do not appear here, nor in credential manager in cp.

I suppose taking the sledge hammer option to completely reset Microsoft Edge to default should clear this as well.

Be sure to back up your favorites first though.

lol it reset everything but still remembered everything about passwords, maybe its a cortana issue? I went to the cloud settings and cleared everything I could but didn't help either. Is there another sledge hammer you know of? Maybe the only way would be a full reformat?

I just finished some testing, and when you say "No" to saving password for a site, it will add the site to the "Manage passwords" list.

Deleting the site from the list will normally have Microsoft Edge ask you to save the password again afterwards.

If you haven't already, double check the list to make sure all instances of the site has been deleted, or delete all saved passwords to start fresh.

yes I cleared everything, and running your reset tool also cleared everything. Maybe some sites like do not generate the prompt? for example Hulu.

Also I think there is a setting in the cloud that is interfering. As all passwords were cleared but it still filled them in. Weird.
