It doesn't seem to work in Pro either... See my previous post. Still waiting for more updates to confirm that even though it's set to "notify to download" (option 2), Windows is still (days after setting it) automatically downloading and installing updates., without notification.

And still no clue why option 5 doesn't enable the drop down menu with all options, I'm (still) guessing that option 5 only works with the old removed updater.

Thanks I will have to find a way to prevent it at least from downloading coz I'm working home and don't have enough bandwidth. for my personal use I will stay with windows 7.
hmmmm maybe host file will do the job?

    many thanks

Disable the Windows Update service should do the trick.

That wouldn't be advised since you would not be able to get any updates at all leaving your Windows unpatched and eventually broken.

Instead, Windows 10 users could hide updates instead.

You can always re-enable the Update service at a more convenient time to do some updating, so that it doesn't happen when you don't want it to. That shouldn't be a problem

You could also set your connection on metered.

It is. You would just need to enable and start it again anytime you want to check for and install updates.

in general I always disable this service even in my own computer. I update only once after installation and maybe once in six months or a year.

    cheers
