Yes, it will affect anything that will not automatically download on a metered connection. You'll have to manually do so instead. More details below to help.

Regarding the option 5, if I set the Windows Update service to Manual, the Windows updates automatically start or not? If not, from Command Prompt, how do I do this?

If the service is set to manual, then yes it could still be automatically started. Disabling the services is the only sure way to make sure it will not be started.

Of course, you'll have to manually toggle to enable/start and stop/disable the service each time you want to check for and install updates.

Hi Shawn,

I am told that Windows Defender updates will take place regardless of what settings one makes using the group policy editor. I have never seen a Windows defender update running in the background after making the changes to the group policy.
So I do not know whether the above is true or not.

If automatic updates get disabled, there shouldn't be any updates that automatically download and install.
