Their Method 1 is the same as OPTION THREE here, except that I use a task to keep it working.

I just tested their Method 2, and it doesn't work for the lock screen at startup either.
Has there been any answer on how to disable the lock screen? I have a PIN code set up and instead of Windows booting up directly onto the screen where I type in my PIN, it forces me to hit Enter first and then type in my PIN. Bloody anniversary update ruined it. I have tried the gpo, regedit, and task, none of which have worked when the computer first turns on.

Hello MilkMee6, and welcome to Ten Forums. :)

Unless you have a Windows 10 Enterprise, Education, or Server edition installed, nothing so far will disable the lock screen at startup unless you have Windows automatically sign in to your account at startup.

This is a wonderful design feature of Windows 10 approved on April 1st. I hope the joke period will be soon be over.

Thank you for the quick response. I will keep my eyes open for an update that will hopefully come soon.

So this Anniversary Update has really caused me a lot of grief with accessibility. Not for me, I set equipment up for others with needs like this. I had their systems configured with no startup password, screen timeout after 10 minutes (save battery). When they would hit their switch access it would wake the screen up and they'd be back at their accessible software. Now, after the Anniversary Update, it goes to that darn lock screen and they are stuck.

I have tried all the options to turn off the lock screen, and while that may disable it, it then requires hitting the "sign in" button under the username which again is a problem for these people.

I need it the way it was before the Anniversary Update. No lock screen and no having to push "sign in." Just hit the input and the screen wakes up, just like every single other version of windows in the past and just like Windows 10 used to do. I've been scouring the internet but everyone is simply talking about turning off the lock screen to get to the password window so that's no help.

If I don't have the screen go to sleep then it doesn't have this issue, but then that ruins battery life.

Anyone have any suggestions on this? I'm at a loss.

Are you wanting to disable both the lock and sign-in screen? The lock screen can no longer be disabled at startup in the Windows 10 Home and Pro editions.

If you have multiple users on the PC, then you'll need to have the sign-in screen for them to select their account and sign in. I'm not sure what you mean by them not having to push "sign in". Do you mean not requiring a password on wakeup or resume from screen saver?

There is only one user per device, and there is no Windows password on the local account. They boot straight to desktop without the lock screen or sign-in screen no problem. It is simply after the screen times out and goes to sleep (Surface Pro 4 tablet, so connected standby probably) that the lock screen comes up. Swiping it away or hitting a keyboard key makes it go away, no sign in required since there is no password.

If I use the scheduled task or block access to LockApp it disables the lock screen, but then I get the sign-in screen that I have to hit "Sign in." This is just as much of a problem. I need it to act like it used to, where when waking the device up it would just turn the screen back on and be right back at what the user was doing.

The "require password when resuming from standby" option is no longer there in the power options.
There is no screensaver set, and the check box to require a password (or display logon screen) is not checked.

If I don't let the screen turn off at all, the lock screen never appears. Obviously though this is a problem from a battery life standpoint.

    SparkyJJ0,

As a test on one of the devices to see how this works for you, add a password to the account, then set Windows to automatically sign-in to the account at startup to avoid that sign-in screen, and set "require password when resuming from standby" to "Never".

Same thing. Logs into Windows fine, no lock screen or password needed, but once the screen goes to sleep after 10 min waking it up with an input shows the lock screen. Swiping the screen or hitting a keyboard key makes it go away without the password. But having to hit those inputs is simply not possible for some of these users due to what they have to use to operate their computers.

I disabled connected standby just to see if that made any difference, but it acted the same.
