    Hello everyone,

I think I'm the only one different here, because I actually had the lock screen disabled on startup. It only appears when I signed out or locked the computer. With the changes in lock screen transition on anniversary update, I wanted to enable the lock screen via group policy and regedit, but I couldn't get it to work.

Here's what happened before. Before the anniversary update, I already disabled the lock screen via group policy. Then I decided to upgrade it. During installation at 90%, there's was a sudden power outage so I had to install the update again. Maybe it corrupted some system files.

Like I said before, I really want to enable the lock screen during start up

Hello leelaw, and welcome to Ten Forums.

If you like, you could try doing a repair install to sort it without losing anything.

@Brink Can you make a fix for this for Windows 10 Redstone? It goes me STRAIGHT on the nérves that they completely ignore their customers and block gpedit.msc and regedit from modifying that entry (it will just reset once the PC reboots). I want this useless feature gone, else i go back to Windows 8.1 (yes, those things can make the difference for me). I don't like being forced to have that stupid lock screen, which is ABSOLUTELY useless as a Desktop user.

I was reading over the weekend about enabling the console login, and haven't tried it myself but the article reads like it replaces the lock screen and regular login with the console login...

    Hello @yanniclord,

OPTION THREE will disable the lock screen, but just not at startup.

To avoid the lock screen and sign-in screen at startup, you could set Windows to automatically sign in to your account at startup.

Sorry, but none of these are an option for me, i want it totally gone. I found someone who decompiled the LogonController.dll and changed some bits in it, and i switched it out with my current and it works perfectly. I tried all other options, the only that worked was the LogonController.dll "hack"

Their Method 1 is the same as OPTION THREE here, except that I use a task to keep it working.

I just tested their Method 2, and it doesn't work for the lock screen at startup either.
