Hello TheOne, and welcome to Ten Forums.

Microsoft has temporarily delayed this feature to be able to save apps to removable locations until a later release.

my C:\ is my ssd. i'm stuck having everything attempting to go on to it. i spent days meticulously stripping down my OS on my hard disk and compressing and defraging to save all the space i could. and then this trash.

    Hello GuestLogin,

I'm not sure what you mean. This feature works now in the Windows 10 TH2 release.

Hello ichilouch, and welcome to Ten Forums. :)

I just test with a SD card, and it was recognized on my system to select for app storage.

You may need to format it first. My SD was only 8GB, and was formatted with FAT32.

I'm having some problems with this. I have an HP Stream 7 with TH2 installed. I can select to save all new apps to the SD card but when they try to install, I get Error 0x80070006. If I change it back to install on the C drive, the app installs and works with no problems. Thanks for any help in fixing this.

    Hello sprtfan, :)

You might see if formatting the SD card may allow you to afterwards.

I'll give that a try. In the mean time I figured out how to move the app to the SD card after it was installed on C. I didn't realize that you had the option to move some apps by going to Settings =>System=>Apps and Features. I was able to install the apps on C, and then move them to my SD card. So far everything seems to be working but it would be easier to just install them directly to the SD card. This works well at least. Thanks

    Windows 10 Home 64 Bit

    Hi there,

I have just built my first computer, and it's running Windows 10 64 bit Home with an SSD (C drive) and a WD HDD (D drive).

I think I originally had apps set to be saved onto the D drive, but I have changed the settings to put them onto the SSD (C drive) so they will load faster.

There is now an empty folder on the HDD (D drive) called "WindowsApps", which I was assuming Windows created as I had originally selected that drive to save the apps to.

I was going to delete the folder but I get a "Folder Access Denied" pop-up window, containing "You need permission to perform this action. You require permission from SYSTEM to make changes to this folder."

Should I just leave it be?
