Alright, sounds good.
I updated every laptop as well as the desktops to the anniversary build which included a pair of 8.1 and even a 10 laptop with the TH2 apparently on it brand new as well as both the main and remote desktops without a single glitch seen with any program. The early upgrades from 7 to 10 however a year ago into about late spring/early summer however wouldn't have fared so well coming up from a previous version.
Each newer build in progression over time has been generally going on like any other WU/MS type update and with the few right before the 1st anniversary 14393 build were found to go without the need to remove the folders from view. It appears the transitions from build to build were getting smoother. The reg tweaks in the guide here also now seem to be carrying over as well as just about 99% of all apps. With a lifetime license for the av program here that will prompt to renew or see the existing key work without fuss as soon as each newer build has gone on.
The only problem to report through all those was first started to being seen on the second remote desktop later followed on the main as far as a particular loose language update without any way to hide that. You would get to 100% installed and then repeatedly see all updates including the ones that did go on removed with the WU reverting everything back the way it had been. This is why the main is still seeing the 14393.187 and not higher at the end for the anniversary update. No fuss with the folders however!
Hey Shawn, thanks for this tutorial, it's quite useful!
I have a lil' question though, is it possible to pin libraries in this window instead of just folders? I use this feature a lot to categorize my stuff and I thought it would be nice to get access to them rather than just the folders. Also, this would enable me to access my libraries from save and load dialogs (not all dialogs seem to show the libraries pane... dunno why :S )
Any idea if this is possible?
Thanks in advance
Hello Ferchog, :)
If you like, you could add "Libraries" to This PC using the same method below for W8.
Libraries - Add or Remove from This PC in Windows 8.1
Will this method work for adding specific libraries instead of all the libraries in one "folder"?
I'm afraid not. It'll only add the main Libraries folder instead.
If I remember correctly, trying to add individual library folders ended up adding them under the "Drives" section instead of "Folders".
Ohhh... I see. Well, thsi is a good option in case I need it. Thanks a bunch Shawn
You're most welcome. :)
If you like, you are able to pin a library to Quick Access.
Quick access - Pin or Unpin Locations in Windows 10
What a fool I am! I just pinned folders... I didn't realize I can pin libraries as well!
Thank you Shawn, that solves my problem!
