    The Windows 10 DPI Fix program fixes the scaling issue perfectly for me, but always concerned about these types of programs. I'll try one of the options in this tutorial to see if it can do as good a job without the DPI program.

    Option 3 worked pretty well, so I ended up using the pre-login script (doing something similar to option 3) that was posted elsewhere on the site.

    It's good to know where those registry options are so the tutorial really helped.

    cheers.

    Thanks! I found option 2 on another site but it used this as source. Is option 2 only recently possible because it works perfectly for me so I don't get why I've only seen the registry option before. I know/can edit the registry but even then I avoid it if I can.
    Now I don't have to be slightly annoyed everyday when using Win10.

    Hello ptutrup, :)

    I'm glad it could help. Option 2 has been available in previous Windows, but the way to get to those settings changed in Windows 10.

    SUCCESS!: My issue was with a Surface Pro4 running Windows 10 attached to an external LG Ultrawide monitor using a Display cable, and wanting to have different but compatible dpi on each monitor. I would have to turn off custom scaling and restart every time I booted my system -- essentially, having to double-boot every morning.

    The custom scaling was always 'active' after a reboot, and it drove me buggy that I couldn't get it to retain my settings: 200% for the Surface Pro screen and 100% for the Ultrawide screen.

    Setting individual scaling for each monitor in the Display Settings resulted in the following reg values: (step 6 in option one)

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop\PerMonitorSettings\HWP28283CQ9380TKP_26_07D9_EC^A3486C14FBE55CC655B47BB46FC3FEA1\DpiVa lue=0x00000001 (1)HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop\PerMonitorSettings\SDC38530_00_07DF_FB^1C34A1C41AEEF3FF4889352510FEF621\DpiValue =0x00000000 (0)

    The key to success was to change the following registry key (using Regedit) from '1' to '0' to disable the custom scaling and enable the per-monitor scaling:

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop\Win8DpiScaling = 0x00000000 (0)

    Now, my per-app settings are still occasionally screwy, as the apps do not properly scale their fonts in ways that are functionally adequate for Win10 and a Surface Pro4, but that's something that can be worked around on an individual basis.

    I have no idea if this is mentioned or not, since I didn't read the whole thread, but there's a typo.
    100% DPI Scaling is 96, but you have this in your .reg file:
    "LogPixels"=dword:00000096
    Which is wrong, you must write it:
    "LogPixels"=dword:00000060
    So 60 is 96 in DWORD, and if you take a look at your Registry Editor screen shots you see there is correct.

    Hello obidsolo, :)

    You would type 60 for HEX, but would type 96 for Decimal like in the tutorial. It just depends on what you select.

    I'm posting this to help anyone else with a mixed dual monitor setup.

    I have a 4K as monitor #1, and a 10820p as monitor #2.

    I recently had to do a clean install, and before that, moving open program and system windows resized smoothly and perfectly.
    But after the clean install everything was screwed up. Sliding a window form my 4K to the 1080p, made the window so huge, that some would even jump to the top and not move/be moveable any further I would need to use the open windows thumbnail in the taskbar, right click it and select "move", and then move it with the arrow keys to finish the slide over.
    Once on the other side, the window would be waaaay over sized, font & all.

    In settings my 4K was at the recommended 150% and the 1080p was/is at 100%.

    After messing around with all Windows settings, and the settings in Nvidia Control Panel, I just tried setting the 4K from the recommended 150% to 175% and it is a bit better now.
    The only problem is if I could go lower than 100% for the 1080p, It would be perfect I think, but Microsoft has dumbed down the DPI setting, so I can for get that I guess. One used to be able to really fine tune the DPI, but no more of that.

    Here are three screen shots to see what I am currently dealing with:

    File Explorer open on my 4K only taking up 1/4 of the screen:

    After just sliding it over, FE open on my 1080p taking up 2/3 of the screen(it should correctly resize/rescale but doesn't):

    Now a pic where I have FE half one both sides, notice during a slide, that it fills up top to bottom the 1080p screen until the slide is complete:

    It never did this before the clean install
    And this, till now, is the best I have gotten it, and then have to adjust the compatibility settings for many programs.

    Like I said earlier, this did not happen before the clean install, which was older that the spring Creator's Update.
    Since registry settings are carried over when the build upgrades are done, I never got the problem after the change.

    I have tried to help others that had threads on this subject, and thought, that they either were not following my instructions, or didn't understand them, now I see, that wasn't so.
