Just so you'll know. The second set of reg files do work, but unlike the previous set, they do not place a check mark in the box. Thanks for two elegant solutions to my problem. Byee. paj692

Yep, that's how it should work. The 1st set will only enable/disable the option to check/uncheck, and the 2nd set actually turns on/off to check/uncheck. :)

I only bought this new machine a few days ago, had it all set up. Then I get up this morning to find I can't use my new computer for about 3/4 an hour while it updates. And now the screensaver is broken. I tried going through the steps above, but it just wont turn the display off now!

EDIT seems it's VLC that's blocking the screen from turning off, but I still can't get the screensaver to work and I'd like to be able to use VLC for listening to music without burning a hole in my new monitor

    Hello Stu, :)

Double check through VLC settings to make sure that the Disable Screensaver box is unchecked.

Can't seem to find that setting anywhere?

Anyway, cheers for the feedback I thought it might be something like that. I'll keep an eye on it, at the moment I have a potentially more serious problem to deal with (see my next post)

I found this image for VLC that I hope will help. I'm not sure if it's the same in the current version or not.

Brink hi. Has the screensaver option been removed with the recent Creative Update? I need my screensaver but the reg edit file that used to open "Desktop Background" which gave access to BG, Themes, Screensaver etc no longer opens the old options and the new theme options dont show screensaver.

    respect.

    Hello @antspants, :)

If you meant from the "Personalize (classic)" context menu, then yep it will still work, but you will need to remove and add it again from the tutorial below to update it for W10 CU.

Add Personalize (classic) context menu in Windows 10 - Windows 10 Customization Tutorials

I have updated the tutorial to help make it easier to open Screen Saver Settings.
