I'm afraid that thumbnail previews is a global setting that affects both the folders and image files. There's not a setting to turn it off for only one of them.
What this option do: ie4uinit.exe -ClearIconCache ?Why this site (http://www.thewindowsclub.com/rebuil...che-windows-10) shows a different information?
Hello mosesx, and welcome to Ten Forums.
Because the method here is just more thorough for clearing the icon cache which helps to make it work better.
Hi Shawn :)
I have been using your bat file, from the seveforums days, to Rebuild the Icon Cache.
In Windows 10, MS seems to have added all those iconcache_*.db that also need to be deleted.... That's where the problem starts with the script.
Running the bat from your first post, as admin of course, the following files get an "Access is denied" message and are not deleted.
- iconcache_16.db
- iconcache_256.db
- iconcache_48.db
- iconcache_idx.db
If I restart the PC (by pressing y) and immediately after boot run the script again, this second time around seems to be working. i.e. no "Access is denied" to any file. It gets a little annoying to have to run the script twice (which means 2 reboots) to get the job done.
Any ideas?
Dimitri
Hello Dimitri,:)
I'll look into it and do some testing later tonight to see if I can come up with something to help with this.

Dimitri,
Does it sort your icon cache issue even without those few .db files deleted?
For now, you can right click on the .bat file, and click on "Run as administrator" to have it delete them without the "access denied" for those few files.
Yes it seems it does clear the cache.
I think that although it doesn't delete them at bat runtime, it deletes them upon boot...but needs to be investigated more.
I'll try to check it and get back to you.
