    Any idea how to also do this with the public desktop link?

    Hello chinagreenelvis, and welcome to Ten Forums.

    You can right click on the This PC (Computer) desktop icon once added and click on Pin to Quick access.

    Sorry, I meant I'm trying to create a folder that leads to the desktop using the same registry method in the filename. I've hidden everything in my navigation panel except Quick Access. If I re-check "Show all folders", I can right-click the desktop icon and pin it, but I can't move it once it's been pinned, so it shows up at the bottom. I'm trying to see if I can make a folder like the alternative "This PC" link and place it at the top of Quick Access.

    I'm not sure for the Public Desktop folder.

    You can right click on the "C:\Users\Public\Public Desktop" folder to "Pin to Quick access", but since this is a hidden folder, you will need to have "Hidden items" checked in File Explorer > Ribbon > View tab to see it in Quick access.

    What about the generalized combination desktop that's pointed to by the regular navigation icon? Is it possible to recreate that?

    I'm not sure about that one either.

    It would be best to go ahead and create a new thread for this since it's not related to this tutorial so you can get the best support for it.

    I'll look into this, and see if I can find something though, and will post in your new thread.

    @chinagreenelvis,

    You can create a shortcut for the Desktop shell folder using this location below. However, this shortcut doesn't have an option to "Pin to Quick Access".

    Hi Shawn, great article as always.

    I am working with a customer that has a similar issue - his navigation pane is full of redundant folders. Tried resetting File Explorer views but it didn't help - any pointers on the same? I am wondering if we can delete them through registry.

    Hello Sumit,

    It looks like Show all folders is turned on for the navigation pane. The customer can turn this off to at least no longer see any hidden folders in the navigation pane.

    It is odd to see all these 0 byte folders like this in the navigation pane. Do these blank folders have a Delete option available for them when right clicked on?

    Thanks Shawn. He says if he tries to delete, nothing happens. These are related to iCloud which is now uninstalled as claimed.

    Have given your advice of hiding all folders, lets see how that goes.

    You can also check out this below to see if it may help to find the source of these zero byte folders to delete.
